Swiss Darning is a simple sewing technique used to save loved and worn-out knitwear. Using a matching yarn it can make a near invisible mend or by using a contrasting colour can celebrate the wear on an elbow and is a great way to add patterns to a garment new or old.
At this workshop, Stephanie Wooster will take you through the basic technique and share an insight into the history and contemporary use of the technique.
Tools provided: Small samples of knitting to work on, darning needles and threads.
The workshop itself will take place at Bellacouche, The Unitarian Chapel, Moretonhampstead - a 2 minute walk from the Gallery! One session at 10am and the second at 2pm.
