This autumn we have a very exciting exhibition ‘Fire and Clay’ representing eleven potters each with their own practice, using different kinds of building methods, clays, kilns and glazes all contributing to a very colourful interesting show. Moretonhampstead is so fortunate to have a wealth of potters amongst us, of whom we have Jill Fanshaw, Nic Collins, Penny Simpson, Sabine Nemet and Taja exhibiting alongside potters from further afield Bruce Chivers, Charlie Collier, Rob Sollis, Laurel Keeley, Justine Jenner, and Petra Reynolds.

The inspiration for this exhibition came when Green Hill curator Carol Harvey paid a visit to Diessener Töpfermarkt in Germany, where over a 100 stalls were exhibiting amazing but very different works. The exhibited work was a great reminder of our own home grown ceramists and the strength of work we also can be very proud of.

Fire and Clay will be an extraordinary exhibition of exceptional skill and, dare we say, beauty.
