In this workshop led by Lucy Patrick, we will undertake a short walk to a place determined by drawing a spiral around the Green Hill Arts gallery. On the walk, participants will be encouraged to observe what is around them, collecting drawings, objects and photographs.

Once we have arrived at the destination, participants will look for the nearest tree that draws their attention and make “colour samples” using natural materials found nearby.

On the return to Green Hill Arts, there will be a presentation on the principles of making mandalas using symmetry, colour, geometry, number and intention. Objects and sketches collected as part of the walk will be used to form templates and traced onto a circular board. The board will be decorated using the colours inspired by the samples collected in the field.

Participants will benefit from learning a new way of looking and engaging with their local landscape. They will also have a beautiful decorative wooden board to take home with them. (They make beautiful wall hangings, decorative serving mats, and plant pot stands).

Adults only (ages 14 +)

Participants are to meet at the Green Hill Gallery for 1:00pm on the 6th of July. Participants are invited to bring, if possible, their own small paintbrushes.  Everything else will be provided.

(Please note that we cannot provide refunds or transfer funds to other workshops).
